Segmeridian 2 for Rhino: medical image segmentation

Hello everyone,

I’m Pablo Garcia-Amorena, the developer of Segmeridian. Since the original Segmeridian post, the Rhino integration has evolved considerably, so I wanted to introduce the current workflow.

Segmeridian for Rhino connects multimodal medical-image review and guided segmentation with downstream Rhino geometry:

  • Open DICOM series and supported medical-image volumes.
  • Navigate synchronized 2D views and inspect the data in 3D.
  • Guide and refine multiple segmentation layers.
  • Extract reviewed segments as editable meshes into the Rhino workspace.
  • Continue with Rhino modelling, measurement or Grasshopper automation.

Latest version 2.9 includes:

  • Corrected image coordinates and positioning.
  • Direct opening of DICOM files.
  • Brightness and contrast controls.
  • A new Image Filters tab.

The core workflow runs locally on the workstation.

I would appreciate feedback from anyone using Rhino or Grasshopper for medical, dental, orthotic or patient-specific design. Where is the greatest difficulty in your workflow: image import, segmentation, mesh preparation or the handoff to parametric design?

Segmeridian is provided for research and evaluation only and is not clinically validated.

Kind regards,
