I may well be missing the point but is there any advantage to using sectiontools as opposed to just using clipping planes+display modes?
Apart from constant updates on clipplanes that i guess may slow the drawing down.

SectionTools creates actual - snapable and exportable - geometry that can be annotated, moved, scaled etc. Clippingplanes and display modes are just smoke and mirrors (display pipeline tricks) and can’t be exported as lines/curves, just as bitmaps.
