Seamless Voronoi from Multiple Surfaces

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a speaker stand for a pair of PreSonus Eris 3.5s. The design uses an 80x40mm aluminum profile as a central column, the idea is to create a voronoi pattern that slides onto the 80x40 frame that will have a slight angle to angle the speakers down towards me, but i am having a few issues creating a semless transition between the diffrent surfaces, as i will be 3D printing it, so the semlessness would also make it a bit sturdier, adding some screenshots to preferibly help disect what im trying to do, as well as the first mockup i did where i yet to figure out the seamlessness, but yeah, if anyone got an idea, how this could be achived im all ears

Kind regards Philip

I couldn’t get Leo’s GH file to work, but the way I’d do this is to make 2 separate pieces (so you won’t need any supports) by printing each with PLA, and then weld them together using Weldon 3 solvent (or Weldon 4 if you live in California.) This is a highly potent solvent that dissolves PLA and literally welds 2 parts together. Only a tiny amount is needed to make a strong joint.

Faster processing but I use a Pufferfish component.

when you mean weld em together do you mean cut it straight down the middle and have a left and a right piece? or make it so the top and bottom is separate?, which both of them work, i guess, just thought if i could make it one solid print, that would probably look the nicest not nessisarily be the strongest i suppose!

Thank you, the only small caviat is the hole in the top layer, as i want the top to sort of rest on the aluminium frame, but i can see the GH script and can probably play around to figure the top out myself!

No. I mean make the 2 parts separately. You can print each one with no supports, which you can’t do if there is only one STL file for the whole thing. If your pipe is a few mm in diameter it should be strong enough to hold the speakers as long as no one messes with them.

Thank you, i forgot to reply before i went to travel, so thank you! ^^
