Script Editor: Issues/requests concerning reloading modified script file

  1. In 9.0.26021.12305, 2026-01-21, after a file that is currently open in both VS Code and Script Editor is modified and saved by the former, the above dialog sometimes reappears 1 or 2 times. The previous version of the WIP did not do this; it displayed the dialog just 1 time.
  2. For this WIP and the previous one, Script Editor does not detect changes made by Visual Studio (2026). Rhino Python Editor has this same problem. The notes in an unresolved YouTrack, RH-43089, may provide some insight.
  3. The file autodetection is not working in the Script Editor in 8.27.26019.16021, 2026-01-19, even when the file is modified by VS Code.

Uh Okay, Thanks for reporting. I will get this tested tomorrow and will put a fix for the next build

Update:

  • Made a few fixes so editor does not ask to reload multiple times
  • Added toggles to main options to turn off file and folder watching if desired. Legacy editor used to have this option as well.

Hello @eirannejad

I’m working on 8.27.26019.16021, 2026-01-19 as well. Should ‘Watch File Changes’ be working, or is there a setting to enable it?

I’m also working in VSCode and/or Windsurf and would like the ScriptEditor to see changes and prompt me to reload when modifications have been detected.

Thanks,

Dan
