Scaling CVs using the gumball

I’m on a construction plane, and have selected symmetric CVs of a circle that I want to non-proportionally scale using the gumball, but the scaling icons are not showing up when CVs are selected. How is proportional/non-proportional “CV massage” done in Rhino? Thanks!

Gumball scale handles should show up also for cvs. If that is not the case I’d like to see the model that shows that behavior. Also, pls run _SystemInfo in Rhino and post back the results

Cheers, here they are.

hi @Lagom
if the control points are aligned in any of the Gumball’s directions, you will not see any scale handle in that direction. Looking closer at your image, you have a green scale handle, but not a red scale handle.
If you want to be able to scale the control points from the position your Gumball is in in the X direcition, you could add a point at the origin and add it to the selection.
In Rhino 7 you can then relocate the Gumball scale handles after repositioning it if needed with Cmd clicking the handles (double clicking in Rhino 8), or use the setting _GumballScaleMode Mode=Relative if you prefer having the scale handles on the same location at all times.

Does that help?

Thanks, adding a point (at the centre of the cross-section half-circle to be deformed by massaging CVs symmetrically), works.
