SaveAs with Save small vs. SaveSmall

  1. Open mullion problem 01 260430.3dm (from Weird geometry problem - causing a hard time - Rhino / Rhino for Windows - McNeel Forum)
    Rhino’s title bar reports 6 MB.
  2. _SaveAs with Save small option enabled to a difference file name. (Leave other options at their default settings.)
    Rhino’s title bar reports 6 MB.
  3. _SaveSmall
    Rhino’s title bar reports 157 KB.

I also cannot reduce the file to ~157 KB with _SaveAs regardless of its options except Save geometry only.

I tried other option settings of _SaveAs in V8 & V9, but only Save geometry only reduces the file size as much. What is _SaveSmall removing from the file that _SaveAs is not?

I found a Mac-only issue that may be related: Save small checkbox - partially small : RH-79753
