-saveas with no plugin data problem

I want to start over with a new renderer… Wipe out all the old materials and data.

I do a -saveas and pick saveplugindata=no but all the old flamingo material assignments are still in the file.

What am I missing?

Hi Wynott,
-saveas without plugin data is the first step.
Next step, Tools-> Options -> Plugins.

  1. Select Flamingo and “uncheck” to disable. We do not want it to load.
  2. Close and reopen Rhino. Flamingo should not be loaded.
  3. Reopen the file and it should be clean of Flamingo data.

If you still have the problem, please send us a file that will show us this problem.

Mary the issue is that Flamingo doesn’t save the material information as “plugin data” … it’s saved as “document data”

Pretty disappointing that there isn’t a Flamingo_SaveWithoutFlamingoData command or something.

Ryan, document data is plug-in data, as is object data.

Like Mary says, if you have a file that you cannot purge user data, please send it in…

Thanks for the suggestion, Ryan.
I believe that Rhino should offer a command to selectively pick which plugins data will be preserved and whose data is on the chopping block. There are hundreds of plugins, and having them each add their own command for this, sounds like a waste of resources.

I have added it as a Feature request for Rhino 6.
Unfortunately it has to be done in the core, and can not be added as a plugin to Rhino 5.
I still would be happy to look at any file that refuses to delete the plugin data.
