Save Named View under View name

Dear McNeel Team,

We frequently use the ViewCaptureToFile command in Rhino 8 as part of our office workflow. Throughout our architecture and interior projects, we consistently capture progress from the same viewport over a span of months or even years, often saving each capture under the same file name to track development over time.

Given how often we use this feature, I was wondering if it would be possible to automatically use the Named View’s name as the default file name in ViewCaptureToFile. Currently, the default is something like ViewCapture20250709_124928, but having it default to our personalized Named View (e.g. “Section_Main” or “Interior_01”) would be much more intuitive and efficient for our workflow.

Is there a way to implement this behavior currently, or could this be considered for a future update?

Running the command in the commandline, you see a few options which could be a first improvement for you.

If that is not enough, you can create a script and put it into a button.
