'Save as' acts as Export (Rhino 8)

… if the file format is set from Rhino 8 to Rhino 7 format. This is very confusing. If I want to use export than I choose export. If an user error is to be avoided, then a warning would be ok, but please no unexpected behavior. It’s very confusing now.

Hi Micha, on Windows at least, Export only sends selected objects. However, saving to a pervious version of Rhino does write a new and separate file, since the currently open file cannot be in the previous format.
Does that make sense or am I missing the point of your comment?

My project partner is still using Rhino 7. I don’t mind saving in Rhino 7 format and I want to send the file to my project partner later. It is very confusing when you save under a new name with a sequential number and after some time you realize that you are still working with the file with the old file name. Saving should not do such things, at least not without a note.

I use incremental save, that will keep previous file as well as the most up to date version.

I usually use this too, but this time I needed Rhino 7 files and therefore used “save as”. I didn’t expect there to be any problems.
