Rounded curves turning square when projected onto surface

Hi Guys,

I have ran into an issue i haven’t had before with the project command.

When I project the above curve onto the surface below, the curve suddenly changes to weird sharp angles. I have never had issues with project before, I had even projected the same curve onto a similar surface before doing this one.

Anyone know what’s going on here and how i might fix it?

Would be good to have the file with the original curves and the SubD…

Are you very far from the world origin?

Ahhh that was the issue.

I was working with some imported TOPO and Contour data so i was a million miles away from the world origin.

Is there a way for me to move the world origin without effecting the coordinates from imported data? This isn’t the first time I have caused this issue for myself. I sometimes forget that the tools can go a bit strange when far from the origin.

You can’t move the world origin, you can only move the model. Here is one workaround:
