Round Hole (Solid) Diameter vs. Radius

When I draw a circle, I have a choice between diameter and radius:

But when I want to drill a whole into a solid I only have one choice:

Here I can press “i” to select diameter

and in this dialog I can type “r”

to get to the radius dialog:

That is rather inconvenient.
(Note that now diameter has “d” as a shortcut.)

Hi Axel-

I want to make sure I am understanding your issue. Am I understanding that you are pointing out that the hotkey for diameter changes (from d to i and then back to d) during the command? Or is there some other workflow nuance that I am missing?

Hi Dan,

no, that was just a minor point.

The point is that I can’t switch between diameter and radius in the initial dialog but have to go through 3 more dialogs. (And you can’t reach these dialogues as a mouse user, they are only available for the hotkey user.)

What I like is a
[ ] diameter
button in the initial dialog and the default always being radius.

Thinking again, due to shortcut issues (Depth, Diameter, Drill, Direction) it would probably be better to have diameter as a default and a radius button.

Ah, ok, I think I’m understanding better what you would like to happen. I’ve logged this as MR-1292. Please take a look and let me know if you think this captures the proposed fix.
