Rotating view about vertical axis going through the center of the viewport

About the - Rotate around CPlane Z-axis…
In perspective view, this normally works great for me, but when I specify a new CPlane, the view does not update as rotating around the Z-axis of the new CPlane
Does anyone know why that might be, or if there’s a comand I can enter to reset the view?
