Roof issue

Hi guys, I’m renovating a very old house, and all the exterior walls are out of square. Now I’m having trouble creating the roof.

If I use the “roof from curves” method, the overhangs don’t end up horizontal relative to the ground level. If I instead model the correct surfaces and then use “roof from surfaces”, the two slopes don’t connect properly at the ridge. I also tried changing the alignment to “bottom”, but then the roof layers overlap at the ridge, which doesn’t look right.

Would it be possible to fix this overlap issue?
Or maybe make it so that, when the alignment is set to “top”, the two roof slopes actually join correctly at the ridge?

Hi Alessandro

It’s a bit strange that the roof slopes don’t automatically connect at the ridge when using “Roof from Curves” — that usually works without a problem. If you can share the file where the issue is happening, I’d be happy to take a look and try to help you.

You can fix that by going into the Roof Properties and setting the Edge Cut to Flat. That should make the overhangs align properly with the ground level.

Let me know if you can send the file and if you need any extra help!

Best,
Melissa

When I use the “roof from curves” tool, everything works fine at the ridge, but the eaves line ends up tilted instead of staying level with the ground. This only happens when I use the “roof from surfaces” option.

I tried setting the edge cuts to horizontal, but it still doesn’t come out right:

I meant to say ‘Roof from Surfaces’, not ‘Roof from Curves’. Sorry
Would it be possible to receive a file where the issue appears, so I can take a closer look and help you more effectively?
