RiR - Grasshopper Load Error (Revit 2024)

Hello,

I’m getting the following loading error when trying to open Grasshopper using RIR with Revit 2024.

I can open it in Revit 2025 no problem but need 2024 for a specific project.

When I open Grasshopper I don’t see the Revit tab. I can search for RIR nodes and add them to the canvas that way but they are not present on any toolbar.

Grasshopper will still open after the error but this is what I see:

I can still search for RIR components and add them to the canvas:

But no toolbars show up…

Thanks for the help!

Lets start with a quick uninstall / reinstall of RiR.

Is Revit 2024 in the typical install location?

If that is not the case it could be a conflict with another Revit addin, although i don’t recall this particular toolbar issue. 2025 handles conflicts better, as well ships with a addinmanager.

In 2024 Rhino.Inside®.Revit

Thanks @Japhy , I have tried that 3 times along with manually clearing remaining files in temp folders and such and doing a system reboot after reinstall.

Yes, it is in the C/Program Files/Autodesk/Revit 2024 which matches all other Revit version I have installed as well (2022-2026)

In reading the article you linked it sounds like pyRevit could be a conflict. I’m directly looking at that now and going to attempt o remove that and report back

EDIT:

Okay I did not have PyRevit but I did have RevitPythonShell so I deleted/removed that add-in and others I wasn’t using but the error is the same still.

EDIT 2:

Okay, if I check the command history in Rhino I see what is happening:

Load Enscape.Rhino.Plugin …
Enscape.Rhino.Plugin started.

EDIT 3:
Removing the above plugins did not solve it

Ok, a addin/plugin issue for sure.

Two helpful troubleshooting methods:

Start a new instance of Rhino by Shift+Cntl clicking the Rhino Icon and choosing the 1st option. This unloads Revit addins.

Then open Rhino and start Grasshopper via the commandLine with GrasshopperLoadOneByOne and say no to all the 3rd party (first 11 are shipped with Rhino)

This did in fact work, disabling 3rd party plugins. I’m not sure which plugin is causing the issue but at least this will work for now.

Thank you @Japhy, could you remind me how to show what third party plugins I am running so I can start narrowing the problemed plugin down?

You can see all that are being loaded here. Some may need to be manually moved out of gh resource folders or removed via package manager.
