Rhino8: When using the Match Material Properties tool, Rhino 8 crashes

When using the Match Material Properties tool, Rhino 8 crashes. How can I resolve this? Thank you!

Hi Jun -
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste its output here.

Hi Jun -

Could you go to the plug-in manager in Rhino and disable those 3rd party plug-ins, then exit and restart Rhino? Does Rhino still crash when you’ve done that?
-wim

Hello, Rhino still crashes after disabling these plugins

Hi Jun -

Could you give a step-by-step description of what you do that crashes Rhino? Is this file-specific, or does it also happen in a new file from a factory-default template?
-wim

I’m operating in Rhino’s default new template file, not a specific project file. For my work, I need to apply textures to Rhino models and match models to required textures. However, every time I use the Match Material Properties command in Rhino 8’s rendering tools and click on the material I want to match, Rhino crashes. This is extremely frustrating.

@wim

Hi jun -
Could you please export those two objects from that video to a new file, verify that the crash still happens in that new file, and then post that 3dm file here?

When you get that crash reporter dialog, please always (always) send in that report! I’m not seeing any from your address.
-wim

Hello, I exported these two objects to a new file, and no crash occurred. What should I do next? Thank you!

@wim After importing the Rhino model from the original scene into a newly created Rhino file, Rhino no longer crashes. What could have caused the previous crashes? Could you help me identify the reason? Thank you.

Hi jun -

Without a 3dm file that can be checked, it’s impossible to know what is happening.
There might be clues in the crash report but you haven’t sent those in.
If you post a 3dm file that crashes on your end and we can reproduce that crash on a developer’s system, there might be a chance to fix the cause of the crash.
-wim

@wim
wall - 副本.3dm (3.5 MB)
The file has been sent to you. The version is Rhino 8. Looking forward to your reply! Thank you very much!

Hi jun -

Thanks for that file!
That does seem to be working as expected here:

Could you make it crash on your end and then send in the crash report?

That is not the Rhino process, but a separate process going wrong. This is not the one crashing Rhino.

When Rhino crashes you get the dialog with the sad dialog. You need to send in the crash report using the dialog. Without that we cannot further investigate what is going on.
