Rhino8 Duplicates Image Files

Hello,

I have recently upgraded to Rhino 8 from 7, I just noticed every time I copy an object from one file to another, Rhino 8 creates duplicates of all the embedded image files, in the same folder where the R8 file located. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

I’m having the same issue–my texture reference files were in one nice folder and have now been saved all over my computer. My file folders are now a complete mess with hundreds of image files all over the place. That never happened before, and I have no idea how to stop it.

Hi Faysal, Michael thanks, I’ll check this. @Michael_Mercadante , are you also running on Mac?

Is the step by step this:
open a file that has bitmap textures.
Open a different or new file
Copy/paste an object from the first file into the second

So far, here, I do not see this so I may need a for 5-year-olds directions.

@Michael_Mercadante @Faysal_SS - we have not been able to reproduce this yet – it sounds bad, and I’d love to see it happen here so we can fix it - if possible, please make a screen grab/video of the bad thing happening, I am pretty sure we are missing some detail.

Heya Pascal,

Yes exactly,

  • Open a file that has bitmap textures (embedded)
  • Open a different file that has bitmap textures (embedded)
  • Copy/Paste an object from the first file into the second one

So when I do this, Rhino8 duplicates all the textures and saves the image files in the same folder where the Rhino files is saved.

Hi @pascal,

Yes I am running on a Mac as well.

This appears to be the same as what’s reported here:

Michael and Faysal, could you post the 3dm files that are involved?

Hi -
We have this issue on the list as RH-81534 Importing 3dm file extracts embedded files to parent 3dm folder
