Rhino7: Opening files & exporting taking long time

As the title suggests, opening existing files and exporting takes up to ten minutes at times. This was not an issue when on Rhino6 which I just upgraded from recently. I’m assuming there’s a setting somewhere that needs an adjustment perhaps to speed it up? Here’s my current specs:

Hi Jeff - are these two separate things that each take a long time, or two things that when combined take a long time? What format are you exporting to?

-Pascal

Hi Pascal,

Exporting file type: stl

The issue occurs during separate instances. Opening an existing file with any size takes almost 2 minutes for a 74,360 KB file that was originally created in Rhino. Exporting stl files is extremely slow, taking 7 minutes to export the resulting 114,541 KB file. Some exports were taking more than 10 minutes yesterday.

I’ve disabled the Intel graphics card thus relying strictly on the much better GeForce RTX 4080 which is more than capable of handling Rhino. Also updated Dell & NVIDIA drivers but the lag still remains for reason.

Hi Jeff - I would not expect this to be related to the graphics card - is there any message, anything printed to the command line while a file is opening?

-Pascal

Pascal,

After further analysis, the files being accessed/saved were on a shared network and not local to the PC. Once the targets were changed, everything ran as intended and much faster. Lesson learned. And thank you for the assistance, much appreciated.
