Rhino7 Freezing w Plug In or Large File Size

Hello,

Rhino 7 Keeps freezing when I use Lands Design or Visual Arq. The freezing pattern especially with LD means I have to avoid using it altogether for the rest of the project to progress.

When using task manager, the battery usage is always “very high” and highlighted red when I try to scroll in and out of the large file with LD elements. The scroll is extremely cut up. However other parts of the task manager components do not light up red.

Here is my system Info, please tell me what to fix:

Hi, Try updating Rhino, and your video drivers, the latter are from 2020.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your suggestion. I updated the NVIDIA driver, but am unsure of how to change the Intel R one. I also went into the NVIDIA control panel and made it so that it is the primary for Rhino. I checked in the Rhino properties and have NVIDIA selected in the and went to the Rhino Updates which linked me to a page that said “new build is available” and then downloaded and installed that [I’m worried about this bc it didn’t offer to uninstall rhino first, but I went with it bc it was from the properties menu).

I’m now getting a couple of different messages:

“Potential Plguin Crash Protection”: We suspect Curve Components plugin crashed last time you started grasshopper, what would you like to do about it? file llocated at" C:\Program Files\Rhino 7\Plug-ins\Grasshopper\Components\CurveComponents.gha (options: try again now next time, never). I chose next time to be able to exit the screen.

Component ID Conflict" Grasshopper has been asked to load multiple components that share the same ID. These components cannot co-exist and one of them must be discarded. Loaded component: Object Parameter, tibidabo.grasshopper.TB_ParameterGET – VS – conflicting component: Oject parameter, visualARQ.grasshopper.components.GhVAParameterGetByName (I chose replace) .

When I put all the landsdesign objects (forests) into a layer and turn off that layer, the scroll is much smoother. When I turn it on the scroll has intense delay. When I set up my view and turn on the render with Lands design set to show the trees in 3D (even the most basic one) it’ll not respond. I’ve waited 30 mins for it to respond and then forced the program to close. Also, it simply doesn’t open in TwinMotion.

Here is the new System info.

Rhino updates without first uninstalling the previous build. Nothing to be concerned about.
