Rhino Won't Install x64 bit

Hi Everyone.

Just bought a new laptop, it has Windows 8

For some reason it will only install Rhino x32 bit, but not Rhino x64 bit, and I really need x64 bit :frowning:

This is the error that i get: http://imgur.com/RQjgwFF

I know it has something to do with the NET Framework or Runtime C++, but I just canā€™t quite fix it

I googled the error and microsoft has some sort of hotifx but I donā€™t even know if iā€™m on the right track

All help would be appreciated ASAP

@brian, is this something you can help with?
thanks,
-Pascal

This would be much appreciated

I need the x64 bit version of the program urgently to complete a project

@brian, you seem to have been online but no response?

Does anyone have a solution for this matter?? :confounded:

I need a fix desperately, I have been up all night trying

Have you tried re-downloading the installer?

Yeah I did. Any other thoughts?

Oh by the way, this is when using the x64 bit installer by unpacking the original installer .exe

When I use the normal installer, it installs the x32 bit, but ends with the error is the typical ā€œerror 1603ā€, and leaves x64 bit uninstalled.

Sorry, I think @brian is going to have to help

Thank you for trying

Hopefully Brian responds and doesnā€™t ignore this, otherwise I donā€™t know what iā€™ll do :frowning:

One question; why does the 32 bit version not work for you? (at least in the meantime)

Because the plugins require x64 bit :frowning:

Which plug-ins? Most of the plugins out there are available in both 32 and 64 bit formats

x64 bit VRay, my whole system is set up to use x64 bit. Iā€™m looking to fix this properly ASAP, not just temporary fixes.

Because, either way, there is an issue as to why x64 bit rhino isnā€™t working, when many other x64 bit programs have worked fine (e.g. Photoshop)

I was only looking for a temporary fix since you mentioned that you have an urgent project and that you were up all night trying to get this to work. I donā€™t have any other solution at the moment; sorry.

Hi,

Iā€™ve seen this a few times lately. Unfortunately, the problem seems to be with Microsoftā€™s ability to install their own components.

Please try downloading Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Microsoft, and installing it. These are the same components that fail to install when you are installing Rhino 64-bit.

If the redistributable package fails to install, please contact Microsoft for help, and also please let us know what they did to solve the problem. After that, you should be able to install Rhino 64-bit successfully.

If you continue to get installation errors, please send the full install log (available in the last screen of the installer) to me by private message, and Iā€™ll investigate further.

@stevebaer Thanks heaps for your help

@brian Ahh okay I see, I will give that a go, thank you so much! I hope this works.

If it works or I work out a solution I will definitely post here, or iā€™ll send the logs to you.

Thanks heaps again!

Okay guys hereā€™s an update:

I FIXED IT!!!

@brian Firstly, I attempted to install the package you linked me to above.
Following that, it failed and gave me a new error, the error was ā€œError 1935, error during installation of assemblyā€¦ā€ etc.
So what I did was googled the error, which came to a fix on a microsoft page, that gave a few methods of fixing this error.
Hereā€™s the link to that page: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/error-1935-error-during-installation-of-assembly/6eb81d6c-ae2a-483b-9db0-c228fb5828e4
(Step 1 was what worked for me)
I tried the first step, which utilised command prompt, then restarted my computer.
I then tried to install that package again, and it worked this time.
After that I went to install rhino x64 bit again and this time the installation worked.

So now everything is all up and running.

Thank you so much for the help @brian , without your help I would not have been able to fix it.

Yay! Iā€™m glad it worked!
