Rhino WIP vs SpaceMouse

While Rhino 8 and my Spacemouse play very well together, Rhino WIP, it seems, wants nothing to do with the one item that helps me impress clients by smoothly droning through models. Is this a known issue?

Windows 11

MSI Pulse 17 B13V

13th gen i9 - 64GB RAM - RTX 4070

Known issue and how to fix in the WIP:

Step 1:
PlugInManager or Options > Plug-ins

If it is not enabled then check under “Enabled” and restart Rhino.

Step 2 if needed:

Step 3 if needed:

Hi David and thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately, none of these seem to work.

3Dconnexion 3D Mouse is enabled in the plug in manager and when I start to type the command SpaceMouse, Rhino will autofill but on executing will tell me it is an unknown command. Pretty puzzling.

You see that behaviour when the plug-in isn’t loaded. Did you check that the plug-in manager showed it as loaded as well as enabled?

Hi Jeremy, I can finally get to replying. No it wasn’t loaded and I can’t figure out how to. Right click and Load plug-in seems to do nothing. I will play with it some more over the weekend but so far no success.

Couple of things to try:

  1. Is your 3DXWare software out of date? Current version for Windows 10/11 is 10.9.13. Unlikely to be an issue as the SpaceMouse works with your Rhino 8, but you never know…

  2. Run a repair (not a reinstall) of your WIP software installation from Windows Settings!Apps. Find the WIP and select the Modify option, then when you get to the Rhino installer splash screen choose Repair.

Hi Jeremy,

So yes it was the latest 10.9.13 and running the repair did not work either; plug-in still will not load. I think I will just have to wait until it is all a bit more stable. Thank you for the replies.

Hi there, just to say that with the latest Beta it seems whatever issue there was has been resolved. The Space Mouse worked immediately without any tweaks needed.
