Rhino WIP Feature: InflateCrv

Hi Gustavo -

As I said, TextObject with history is already on the list.
Completely on-topic is the request to make the InflateCrv command history-enabled.

@theoutside @wim @DanielPiker

  1. First thing I notice is that there’s no way I can find where I can change the height of the inflate.

Changing my settings mid-command cannot affect the default 10mm depth here:

If I scale this manually after I build it, I can get it to be the height that I want (0.8mm)

  1. Explaining why the need for taper angle control:

    I kept scaling this inflate output + loop edited to a shallower depth that I do not want, so I could achieve the taper angle I wanted (45 degrees)

This is why this taper angle matters (supports vs no supports) for both resin and FDM printing:

rhino and stl files:

inflate_more_tapered_hola_gf_260313.stl (2.4 MB)

inflate_default_hola_gf_260313.stl (2.1 MB)

inflate_with_taper_gf_260313.3dm (7.7 MB)

I hope this helps.

yup, that’s it. And excellent point about being useful for demolding too.

Thx!

perfect, thanks for that. I was picturing this from your description, but wanted to make sure I understood exactly what problem we were solving.

@DanielPiker is this doable?

Found this command to be very useful today! Couple of issues:

  1. The command line doesn’t give me any feedback when the resolution is set too low for Rhino to create anything in preview. I only figured out what was keeping the command from working by experimenting with the ‘resolution’ option. Also the ‘resolution’ option overall is a little mysterious to me.
  2. I wish that the command would remember when I’ve set output to SubD, at least for the session.
