The Rhino WIP has a more subtle approach to notifying you when there is missing content in your file than previous versions of Rhino.
Any missing content warnings are are now grouped or combined into a single dialog.
What is the Missing Assets dialog?
The new Missing Assets dialog combines messages for:
-
Fonts
-
Images
-
Linked block definitions
The dialog boxes for the missing content are no longer displayed automatically when opening a model with missing fonts, images and linked blocks.
Instead, a warning icon appears in the status bar. ![]()
Why was the Missing Assets dialog added?
Opening a file that was once edited on a different computer, could open the flood gates to a plethora of dialogs that had to be interacted with by the Rhino user. Even passing a model from a Mac Rhino to a Windows Rhino with introduce “missing font” warnings.
Missing content can be fonts, images and linked block definitions and many times a file has all three types of content missing.
This feature was requested by many customers over the years since linked content had become part of the Rhino model.
Previous Rhino presented the user with many separate dialogs when opening a file with missing content. All the dialogs required a response or input or you could select Apply to All. Still this could be time consuming and frustrating to Rhino users.

How does this work?
In the Rhino WIP, open a model with missing fonts, images and linked block definitions.
You now have the option to either begin modeling immediately or to investigate missing assets.
-
If it is important to check what is missing and go navigate to it, then the dialog is access by picking on the yellow alert.
-
If not, then you can go right to work on your model.

Clicking the icon will open the dialog box shown above. ![]()
Alternatively, you can also access the dialog box from the menu under “Tools->Missing Assets…” or the type the MissingAssets” command.
