Hi @eirannejad, it’s great to see the new script editor design get a little love in the latest updates. Here’s a couple of feedback points that I noted, in order of personal preference/priority:
- Tabs now have both icons and text. I’d much prefer just text ala the previous version.
- Some icons have updated design/style, while others still look like they don’t belong. Maybe let @marika_almgren have a go at redesigning them (notably the toggle and terminal buttons).
- Top left editor Rhino icon is still verbose.
- Borders are now thin (
), but use different weight and are still hardcoded to a blue tint. - Tabs are now square, where Rhino 9/GH2 use rounded tabs, same as the previous version.
Also, I’d obviously still much prefer a grey terminal background. But I’m guessing that’s off the table?
Finally, a general design observation: Where my personal preference is to remove stuff that isn’t necessary/verbose. The new editor seems to have more and more stuff (i.e. visual clutter) added to it at each update. Obviously a lot of these do provide functionality, but just to demonstrate, here’s GhPython, the old C# and the new Python script editors side-by-side:
GhPython has two icons (that were verbose in the first place), C# has six icons, and the new script editor has 23+ icons (number goes up e.g. during debugging)! So if we can at least shave of the ones that are verbose (e.g. top left and tab icons) that’d go a long way for us visually minimal folks ![]()
And again, apologies for my trademarked “meticulous scrutiny” ![]()
Edit: Also, printing to terminal appears to be broken.
