Rhino WIP Feature: Draw Order in Clipping Drawings

In Rhino WIP, we added support to draw order support for clipping-drawings.

Rhino WIP now displays clipping-drawings output in a predefined and predictable draw order.

What is the output for Clipping Drawings?

Clipping drawings are 2D geometry generated from clipping sections and can be placed anywhere parallel to World-XY plane. The output include section points, curves, hatches and surfaces. Also background visible and hidden curves. It includes tangents and silhouettes.

Why the need to pay attention to draw order?

Since drawings are flat, it is important to pay attention to draw order so that geometry is not unexpectedly hidden behind other geometry.
For example you would want the hatches to show on top of the surfaces and the silhouettes to be on top of the hatches, then draw order will provide this.

New Draw Order in Clipping Drawings Display:

Drawings are projected on the same plane and the draw order is applied to the view. The display will not adhere to the following draw order from the top of the draw order with annotations to bottom of the draw order with background hidden curves.

  • Annotation
  • Background Silhouette
  • Curve
  • Point
  • Hatch Boundary
  • Hatch
  • Surface
  • Background Visible
  • Background Visible not Sectioned
  • Background Tangent Visible
