Rhino window deactivating

this happens to me too on R6, usually while I’m trying to run commands with selections.

This still exists and is highly frustrating

I work in an architecture office where nearly everyone has this problem.

Could you address this?

Also having this Issue in V6, whenever the Selection Menu pops up if there are overlapping objects, the main rhino window wont become the active window again after making a selection. This is an issue which almost makes Rhino unusable and at least extremely frustrating.

Hi - we still haven’t been able to reproduce this on our systems.
If you have a scene and a detailed workflow that reliably causes this to happen on your end, please post that information here.

Hi, I am having what sounds like the same issue. I often need to work between several other software programs as well as access the internet, but when I want to work with my Rhino, I find I need to click twice for almost anything. The first click is to access the Rhino window, the second is to activate the command. Not very optimal.

Look forward to some insight. Thank you, Rob.

Hi Rob - is this true even within Rhino - that is, once you’ve switched to Rhino and done something - make a box say, at that point Rhino has lost focus and you need two clicks to do the nest thing?
Can you please run SystemInfo in Rhino and post the results?

thanks,
-Pascal

Hi Pascal, yes. The issue only appears to be in Rhino. The screen becomes inactive, which means I need to click onto the screen once to activate it and then only can I make a command. Sometimes it takes two or three clicks to get the screen active again.
Below is the system info command results you asked for.
Thank you for taking the time to look into this.

Hi Rob - does this happen if Pachyderm, Vray and Section tools, Paneling tools, are disabled in Options > Plug-ins page and then Rhino restarted?

-Pascal

Hi Pascal, my apologies for the delayed response. In answer to your question, I do not know. I will need to test this. As soon as I have an opportunity to do so I will let you know what the results are.
Thank you for the help so far.

Hi Pascal, I apologize for the poor response from my side. I am not able to interrupt my workflow at present so can not put time aside to resolve this issue right now. I do however note that the issue is not only in my Rhino but also affects my windows 10 operating system.

As soon as I do have a free moment I will follow your instructions and see if I can duplicate the issue.

Again sorry for not being much help at this point.

Thank you for your time so far.

All the best, Rob.

Hi Pascal,

I think Vray might be the problem in my case. I deactivated the plugin and the problem seems to have vanished. I have the latest Vray for Next and R5.

Thanks

Wow, vray seems to cause a few weird issues. I wouldn’t have believed by deactivating vray would help but I’ve actually fixed a problem by doing just that. (slow ortho move)

Hi Bernat, I am still sitting with my problem and unsure how to resolve it. I have followed all your steps and as I have not had feedback from you, I am compelled to try and find a solution myself, however this is not ideal as I am not a computer technician, but rather a user :frowning:

Sincerely, Rob.

Hi Rob - I don’t see a reply from you where you answer with conclusions from these tests.
Pascal’s question was:

does this happen if Pachyderm, Vray and Section tools, Paneling tools, are disabled in Options > Plug-ins page and then Rhino restarted?

5 posts were split to a new topic: Invisible Picture object

This is also happening to me. Extremely annoying. Anecdotally, it seems to often (but not always) happen when I have adobe products open, or vray. A computer restart will usually fix it, at least for a while.

Generally, it will happen in the middle of the command, and I will have to re-select the rhino window 3 times for it to settle down.

Just an update: I think this happens when I try and select an object and the little sub-window pops up to choose between multiple objects. This always deactivates the main rhino window, but the problem is that the main window is not re-activated after I make my selection.

Same issue here, it happens every single day! When I select something, it deactivate the rhino, I have to click the window to input command, super frustrating.

@ted1 Welcome.
Are you using Rhino 5 for Windows as per the Category?
