Rhino Text and annotation objects export to dwg

Hi Shapediver Team, I am curious if Shapediver’s export dwg function is able to export Rhino text objects, annotation objects, and/or hatches to dwg such that they can be easily edited in AutoCAD or other programs.

If you are using Rhino 8, you can use the new text and annotation objects in Grasshopper and connect them to the ShapeDiver Export components. However, note that at the moment, export attributes such as names, layers and colors are not supported for annotation elements. We will soon release a new version of the plugin adding support for these attributes.

Note that this is now possible because the Rhino 8 system is available to free users, you just need to switch the backend used for uploading your definitions.

Thanks! Text and hatches are exporting to dwg as you say without color etc., however my dimension objects are not. I’m using the Aligned Dimension component. I’m not seeing hatches, text, or dimensions in the shapediver viewer, but I imagine I need to convert them to meshes or something?

Could you please share an example definition that fails to export the Aligned Dimension. I just created a simple example and can not reproduce the issue.

Regarding the viewer, we will support them out of the box in the future, but for now you can use scripts to extract the text and bake it as geometry.

@Patrick_Monte1 As part of the 1.19.0 version of the plugin we released yesterday, it is now possible to export annotation objects including their export attributes (name, color, layer, etc…). Let me know if the new version works as expected on your side.

That’s great, thank you!
