Rhino selection modes problem

Hello.
I am trying to select some mesh faces in rhino using ‘‘select by circle’’ or ‘‘select by fence’’.
These command seems to work only if the screen is zoomed enough.
As you see in the video below if i am zoomed in, when i make the selection, it selects only a portion of the circle and if i am zoomed out and using a guide curve to snap it doesn’t select the right meshes. Is that a bug?
Same happens in other modes like select by fence, by boundary etc.

No one?

A reply is more likely if you post a .3dm file with examples of the geometry which is causing difficulty.

select_circle.3dm (4.4 MB)
explode this mesh or use select subobject and use circle selection. I have made a curve- circle to determine the center of the selection

Hello- I see this is messy - thanks for the report.

Are you going to correct this? All the modes have the same problem if you are not zoomed enough.

Hello- please try RebuildMesh on this object and see if selection works better.

I will but why does this matter? On the video posted above i have explode the mesh on individual 3d faces. I have joined in the file i posted here just to reduce the size. If you explode the mesh the file size is nearly 70 mb.

As expected nothing different after rebuild.
AutoCAD used to have the same behavior when you select something not visible on the screen. The fix advertised as anew feature. I don’t remember when.

Hello- here, on the original mesh, SelCircular when the circle goes outside the view, is messy at least some of the time, but it seems to get it right after RebuildMesh.

It doesn’t work

Frustrating that this doesn’t work as expected, but for a temporary fix does hitting tab twice to lock your distance to the desired radius and then zooming back out work to capture everything in the circle?

No. I have tried this by sketching a temporary polyline to snap the circle while i am zoomed out.

Yep, I see this now, thanks
Your objects are very far from the world origin over a million units, I imagine that is causing some trouble but I’ll ask a developer to have a look.

RH-80089 SelCircular- pretty far from the origin

On the first Video the objects have been moved near to Word origin. No difference.

RH-80089 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 4 Release Candidate

I will try I will report back

Its not fixed. I have the same behavior. But now its slower and the CPU usage increases to maximum when i use the command.
As i have wrote the problem is not related with the origin only. In the first post video i have move all the geometry near to 0,0.

Thanks, I reopened the issue.
