Well, McNeel should take a look at where Ferrari’s revenue actually comes from. Most of Ferrari’s income doesn’t come from selling Ferrari cars—it comes from merchandising and other brand-related businesses.
Rhino has a Rhino world? :0
Thats absurd when i think about it but not very uncommon people make money from very unexpected ways
Mcneel take notes! I want my merch store lol
Of course in-app. We need to order from Rhino CLI.
I think there is also a market for assets. Get unique skins for your next Voronoi cheese grater.
You either buy them or get extra “bonus crates” for achieving class A on 50+ surfaces.
In case you need visibility on Youtrack, you can send diamond and platinum coins to Onlydevs.
@theoutside I think there’s one thing missing from the McNeel forum, regardless of the existing topics and gallery. Many other CAD and 3D forums organize themed contests. For example, McNeel could host an open contest every three months where anyone can participate. The theme could be something like “Toy Aircraft”, and Rhino users who want to join could submit their projects while also sharing their work-in-progress in the same thread with images or videos.
At the end of the contest, the winners could be ranked. As prizes, the first-place winner could receive a one-year license for a plug-in such as Cyberstrak (or another plug-in), the second-place winner could receive a discount on a Rhino license or an upgrade to a newer version, and the third-place winner could receive a piece of Rhino merchandise.
McNeel could also organize contests specifically for new merchandise ideas, such as designing a corkscrew, keychain, or other Rhino-themed products. The winning design could even be manufactured.
Overall, I think it would be great to add themed contests or competitions to the forum that any Rhino user could participate in. It would encourage creativity, increase community engagement, and give users a chance to showcase both their final projects and their design process.
funny you mention that… I tried that a long while back and was savaged by the community for being “gimmicky”… I for one am all for it, and Ideally would love to connect it to the getting started series of videos we do - Watch a video, build a thing, enter contest etc…
keep in mind we are a tiny company with limited personnel, and we have a looooot of users… it’s possible this gets out of hand quickly if we were to do something like this.
thought from others?
Well, it could also make sense to create a section dedicated to themed challenges and contests, some without prizes and others with prizes (i.e. sponsored). But regardless of that, I think these competitions would be very useful because they would show beginners how to approach a task, and at the same time allow experienced users to see how other experienced users solve the same problem in different ways. They would also become a sort of tutorials, where everyone can learn from everyone else. In addition, it would fully match the spirit of the community, where people share their experience and knowledge.
Cool shirts but those make it seems Rhino is a mesh software… it partly is, but rhino is not really proficient with meshes.
It should show a brep with some fillets instead!
Yeah sorry, it was supose to be the wireframe view and the shaded view.
The best part is the back of the T-Shirt IMO ![]()
fwiw we do not do pre orders… ![]()
Also, we do have enough Rhino employees pictures in the Discourse to make a proper marketing flyer.
but somewhere in this forum I remember someone said that GTA6 devs where waiting on Rhino 9 launch to fix some assets before launch XD
Sorry, we fired all Photoshop-Meme-Content-Creators over here.
