Hello everyone,
Our group’s graduation thesis is about building a Lunar Shelter (moon base) on the moon. We’re three people – one is assigned for structural analysis, one is for environmental study and one is for construction management.
Our structural team member used Grasshopper with Karamba3D, as well as Midas to do structural simulations and analysis. I’m in charge of environmental analysis, and I’ve just briefly learned the basics of ClimateStudio, but I’m not quite sure if it could even be used for our thesis because there aren’t readily available lunar environment data to be imported/uploaded on Rhino/Grasshopper/ClimateStudio.
I just want to focus on analyzing both solar radiation intensity and thermal comfort on the moon, in order to design a structure which would be effective in shielding radiation on the moon (SPA & GCR) + be effective in insulating harsh and varied temperatures on the lunar surface.
We’ve already done our research for the materials to be used, like Lunar Regolith, Polyethylene, etc. Did research on the surface environment, such as temperature variations, sun angle, etc. But I just really have no idea how to use all that research in order to effectively do simulations that I can present, when the environment is not of Earth’s.
I’m sorry if this is such a vague question. I’m just looking to find directions on what to possibly do next for our thesis.
Thank you so much.
