Hi all,
I just downloaded Rhino 8 for Mac today and tried to activate my evaluation license, but I’m getting an error saying the license key is expired even though my Rhino account shows it doesn’t expire until February 2026.
When I launch Rhino, I get this popup:
“The license key … is expired and cannot be validated.”
“JSON CONVERSION ERROR: unrecognized type <class ‘settings.LocalizationPlaceholderString’>”
I’ve never used Rhino 8 on this machine before, so the evaluation shouldn’t beexpiring on the same day I install it.
System info:
– macOS Sonoma 14.5
– Rhino 8 downloaded today from the official website
– Logged into my Rhino account, where the evaluation key still shows as active
Is there something I need to reset on my machine (cached license, previous evaluation files, etc.)? Or is this a known issue with Rhino 8 for Mac licensing?
