Rhino causing computer to crash?

Hi. I have been using rhino on my Macbook Pro since 2012. Previous versions of the software have always worked fine. However, ever since I downloaded the 90 day trial in September 2015, my computer has crashed once a day, sometimes more. I have been to the Apple store and they assure me it is not an issue with my computer and is related to software. Since this is the only software I have updated in over a year, it is believed the new trial version is causing the problem. Is anyone else having this issue? Is it possible I can get a new trial of rhino for my computer?

Does it still crash if you uninstall Rhino?

Yes I have. I also completely erased my computer and then reinstalled my OS X system. Then i transferred files back onto the computer and left rhino off my computer. It didn’t crash for about 5 days, then crashed twice so I reinstalled rhino last night. Since reinstalling rhino, I have had it on my computer for less than 24 hours and my computer has crashed 4 times.

Let me see if I understand…it crashed twice after you reinstalled the entire OS X system, but NOT Rhino for Mac?

It has crashed every day since I downloaded the new rhino version for mac. I have tried uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still causes my computer to crash. It has crashed five times in the last 24 hours since I reinstalled rhino.

Could you describe in more detail what happens when your computer crashes?

Also, please post your Rhino info: Rhinoceros > About Rhinoceros > More Info… > Copy to clipboard.

Well, I am using my computer and it just crashes. It goes black and shuts off and turns back on white and says “the computer has shut down because of a problem” then restarts. Then it sends an error report and its a panic kernel. I have been to the apple store and they have told me it isn’t the hardware and appears to be the rhino software that is causing it to crash. My computer was completely fine and working until I downloaded this new version of rhino. It crashed 5 times yesterday with rhino on my computer. I have uninstalled it and has not crashed since I uninstalled the software.

I am not sure what this means, so haven’t done so yet: Also, please post your Rhino info: Rhinoceros > About Rhinoceros > More Info… > Copy to clipboard.

For this, you will have to have Rhino installed again. You can have Rhino make a report about your machine which you can then copy and paste in a message here.

Hi, old topic here but I have this same problem. I have a Macbook pro 2010 as a second computer (quite old one, I know) with Rhino for mac (5) installed. everything has worked fine before but recently Rhino has started to crash the entire laptop. This happens with different files, not with the only one specific file and it seems to happen all the time: after opening / creating new file it’s only a matter of time (1-15mins.) after computer crashes. This has not happened with other software so it seems to be a Rhino problem. Any help would be really appreciated. Here is the more info - copy to clipboard report if it helps:
