@dalelear @Gijs
Another example of ElmoPY doing better than Elmo and also not reporting the correct deviation still…
Elmo3.3dm (44.4 KB)
@mcvltd
The ElmoPy version creates a less than desired curvature graph imo.
I think you can better results With Elmo in this case, either using Uniformity None, or Custom (0.001)
left in the image is the Elmo version. With 0.001 Uniformity I get a deviation of 0.171694 vs 0.16365 for ElmoPy.
With Unitormity= none, the curvaturegraph is still better, and the deviation is 0.146061
@Gijs Thanks Gijs, I’ll take another look, haven’t been using numbers that small with custom uniformity - will try that that for my next rebuilds.
Hello Gijs,
I’m not sure if this has been discussed yet, but how does Elmo handle the End-Tangents?
Is there an option to 100% preserve the curve end tangents? That would be really helpful.
Actully preserving the end tangents is even more important to me than deviation of the overall curve.
@Cadworx
Yes, Elmo has options for match tangency on both end, at the start only, at the end only or none.
Hello Rob,
thank you for your reply, great to see you guys already considered this!
Will the Grasshopper (GH1) component also have those options (start, end, both)?
And a deviation output?
@Gijs Yes, agreed. Thank you.
Some notes though…
Deviation reporting is still not good, I get stretched deviation points rather than normals.
For ease of use I could really do with an interactive Uniformity slider for values between 0.005 and 0.0001
Values outside of this don’t tend to give me better results at all.
@mcvltd thanks, the deviation should be fixed, what’s your current SystemInfo, and can you send me that curve?

@mcvltd this is what I currently see, custom smoothing = 0.001
@Gijs Yes, I see something different…
with a zoom-in on that deviation below…
Looking forward to the next wip! In the meantime I’ll send all my work over to you…
![]()
actually, looking at your WIP, I missed that you were using a feb build, I think you should already be able to download a newer version that has this change in.
I just get this when I ask it to check for an update…
“Your installation is the newest available.”
I’ll wait until this one runs out, no panic! ![]()
Revised Click “Check for Update” and Rhino may respond “Your installation is the newest available” even if a newer version is available. In some situations the response may be that a new version is available. The McNeel staff is aware that Rhino provides an incorrect response in that situation but has said it will not be changed.
After the “Your installation is the newest available” response click on “Check Now” to see if there is a newer version available.
@davidcockey Oh! Thanks David, wasn’t aware of that.
@dale It looks like this request was “lost” after the YouTube item was created and assigned to Rafael. Does it need to be reassigned to someone other than Rafael?
Thanks @davidcockey - I’ve moved it to the other Dale…

How about moving the Elmo command capabilities to the existing Rebuild command? I think the Rebuild name is much clearer than the weird Elmo.
i´d love to have Elmo in RhinoCommon , python.
