Rhino 9 Wishlist – Surface designers' needs

Yes definitely! Looking forward to that specially for the elmo command. Also I will mention might be usefull a nurbs to bezier comand and fillets with bezier options and used single spain surfaces instead of a big continuous nurbs surface.
Thank for that list, I will check the Subd match to see what is about

there is
ConvertToBeziers for Curves
ConvertToSingleSpans for Surfaces

Thanks! I missed that completely

What’s a profile blend tool?
-Jakob

Ah, sorry! Found a video of it  Nevermind!

Edit OK, so it’s just Sweep2 using edges as input - nothing new there.

even after looking at a video of it, it still needs clarification why you would need this. It looks similar to what Sweep2 does (with ChainEdges option), minus the G3 option

I profile blend when the filleting tool does not work and I have to do it manually.
What I have here that I miss from Sweep comand is the following.

Explicit control (I can change cvs for example use 5 for get the g2 continuity and increese to 6 to archive g0 when I have to work with super tight constructionoptions, use single span multisurces when I need it and the most important thing I can control the cvs hulls making a g2 fillet look sharper or softer.changing the tangency hull and curvature hull.

In rhino I tried to do something similar with the sweep and controlling cvs woth the cyberstrak pluging but is not as smooth as this single tool.

Hey Gijs.
Look at the corner blend tool, a way to do corner ball with 3 and 4 fillet intersections, and works with a single span surface with 5 degrees.
When I work with super tight surfaces and I do not get G0 continuity I rebuild this woth the profile blend tool.

Look at this video.
I use this tool every day a lot

Check tool:

When a model is finish I run the check tool to check surface degrees, check that everything is single span, G0 G1 G2 continuity with the requirements of the client. Since my surfaces are converted to solid in Catia and they need to be minimum tangent with the construction option from the client to be able to make it a solid.
This is a all in one click to check all.
The output is a chart where I select the rrors and the surfaces get highlighted.

We have to be careful this doesn’t turn into a “Give me all these Alias tools for a Rhino price” thread, as that will eventually result in nothing happening. The check tool you are showing looks like a massive beast.

As far as the Corner Blend tool, IIRC @menno had some ideas for this as well, though there is nothing like that planned for Rhino 9 yet AFAIK

Re: Corner Blend - this is at the wild idea stage at the moment, nothing planned for v9.

I can imagine is something hard to implement. But good to know that there are some ideas around this feature

Agree, It’s important to avoid setting expectations that Rhino should mirror every Alias. But I understand the perception to this post since is I’m doing a one to one comparison
