Rhino 8 vs Rhino 7 Curve and Edge Smoothness

Hello,

I’ve upgraded to Rhino 8 last week.

I’m working on a part I started in Rhino 7, and notice that in V8, Curve and edge definition/smoothness is not as good. It is very good in V7, but it is more blurry/unsharp in V8.
It happens in Shaded and in Wireframe as well.

I have the same OpenGL settings in both versions of Rhino.

It’s true I have a notification in the Properties/Layer/Notifications panel which recommends a driver update. Unfortunately, my graphics card gets no updates any more.
Nonetheless it works very well in V7 as I mentioned.

As you know, seen from a close distance, it can be quite uncomfortable to make small adjustments with close lines/curves/points looking blurry/pixelated, especially if these are off orthogonal.

Are there additional settings to check and adjust in order to improve this?

Thank you very much for your help!

It seems your Nvidia driver is from 2020. That’s ancient by Rhino standards. I would suggest updating to the current driver as a first step.

RH-78744 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 10

Thank you Brian!

Wish you all a good summer

@X111 pls note that I reopened the issue. Also the fix that went in is for bright curves on Black background at 100% display scaling. Still it would be good to test this and get your feedback.

Hello Gijs,

Thank you for your message.

I’ll post it if I notice something.

Best,
