Rhino 8 UI - New command from toolbar

In Rhino 8, opening the “new” command puts a prompt in the command line to save the current file, rather than opening the traditional dialog box. It defaults to yes. This is not easy to see and I have accidentally saved unwanted changes.
The “new” command from the menu still uses the old dialog.
Can this be switched back to using the native OS dialog box that asks the user to save changes?

Hi Snarky -

It sounds like you are using the -New command, instead of the New command.
Can you provide details about how you “open” a command? Also, please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the output here.

@wim Is it a bug that the tooltips for toolbar commands in Rhino 8.8 sometimes do not appear when using the left or right mouse buttons?

Hi Wim,

From the toolbar I’m using toolbar buttons for different templates. This works fine in Rh7

! -New “Large Objects - Feet.3dm”
! -New “Large Objects - Inches.3dm”

Yes, I see that isn’t working at all in V8. We’ve been having trouble with how the -New command works from the beginning. I have had to resort to a script to open a new file from a template. @wim
