Rhino 8 render not showing Nvidia GPU. Rhino 7 does

@lars, @Japhy

FWIW, as RhinoCycles in R7 utilises the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU OK, I thought to check Cycles in Blender 5.1 - that also shows the Nvidia GPU option for CUDA and OptiX.

Thanks for testing. Rhino cycles initialization fails when running through the available GPUs on the system. Unfortunately if one GPU causes issues it will disable them all at the moment. I am working on a custom Rhino 8 build that I will hopefully be able to send to you tomorrow for testing.

Happy to help.

Hi Jeremy.

You may want to try to set Rhino to use Arc 140T as the primary GPU for the viewport and see if it solves the issue on the missing RTX under Cycles.

You could go clicking WIndows START button and type GRAPHICS SETTINGS, and find RHINO 8 in the App List. If not, you could add EXE file.

Select the Arc 140T on GPU Preference as the main Rhino Viewport GPU, and see how it goes.

Pleas Help ! i not see my GPU ! i’m not understand why! i needs help!

Hi @Aleksey_Gavrilov,

I’ve tested a modified R8 for @lars at McNeel which addressed the ‘one card issue hides all cards’ problem mentioned by Lars above and lets me see my RTX 5070 - the issue is actually with the Arc card and he’s trying to figure out why.

If you only have the 5080 and no second card, then I think you have a different issue, or at least a different flavour of it. Hopefully Lars will be able to shed some light for you too.

This was the point I was making in my last post.

I hope McNeel can fix this properly, as Arc will be integrated into many mobile platforms. It would also be useful to continue the three-platform support.

I am worried that what will actually happen is that we will end up with no Arc support again.

@Aleksey_Gavrilov Could you send me your system info, please.

@David53 I understand your concern. The fix I made, that Jeremy tested, is needed. Cycles should not drop all GPUs when one fails to initialize. That is not ment as a solution for Intel GPUs.We will try to get that fixed.
