this is my first post here and I’m hoping that you can help me with my question. I just updated to Rhino 8 on my Mac and was wondering if there is a way, to bring back the appearance of the sidebar as it was in Rhino 7:
In Rhino 7 I had the Layers (and some other) panels on top, and the properties always open below it in the sidebar. Please also see the screenshot attached.
Now in Rhino 8 I can only manage that with the Properties panel floating on top, which might be covering some layers, and is not how I’m used to it. Is there a way to make it look like in Version 7?
Thank you so much in advance and best wishes, Carsten
Dear Carsten - of course this is possible.
please notice there is a difference between dragging panels/toolbars/tabs and the entire container (multiple tabs)
you might just need to press the little rectangle at the lower right ?
I think the following video should answer all of your questions (hopfully) @BrianJ explains the difference between panels/toolbars and containers and shows how to modify the UI - and drag stuff arround. (start watching at 2:30)
hopefully this helps - kind regards from Zürich / Switzerland (german speaking)

thank you so much for your help and the video. You helped me figuring out why this did not work for me, trying since 10 minutes:
I’ve always been grabbing the panel at its name, which results in snapping back to the existing container. Instead, I have to grab the “gray bar” beside the panels name or the four grey dots on the right. Then it creates a new container in the sidebar. This wasn’t clear to me before.
