In V7 and previous, the Export dialog box Save As field would pre-populate with the parent (.3dm) file name (but with the correct suffix for the exported file type). Now in V8 it is blank, so I have to either type it, or hunt around for it and select it. I can’t find a setting for this, although it could be buried in Advanced settings. Is it possible to re-enable this? Thanks.
Hello- I see that, thanks. I do not know if that is the right behavior for Export however - Rhino for Windows does not do this on Export and I can see that as being a much safer way to go.

Thanks for confirming. I’d suggest that pre-populating the field is “safer.” With export, it’s the same file / data, just in a different format. In all cases for me (perhaps only some or most cases for others), it makes sense to have the same file name. File X is data X, file Y is data Y. (X.3dm and X.stl are the same data.)
Versus typing or clicking around for the file name and possibly selecting the wrong one - oops, I over-wrote file Y with data X - not safe! Strangely, the Save As command pre-populates the field… although the purpose of Save As is to give a new name (or location).
Is there any way to pre-populate export name as in previous versions? I export hundreds of files every day, that way Rhino 8 is pretty much useless to me - it would add hours of work every week.
This would be really useful. Also to pre-populate “ViewCaptureToFile” save field would be a timesaver/
