custom display mode derived from the Pen mode it doesn’t seem to work properly in Rhino 8.
In Rhino 7 works as expected.

Hi Teo - please post a 3dm file that I can use to see the difference - so far here the modes seem pretty much the same so there is some setting I am missing.

the difference is in the ring that has a shiny metal material applied.
