Rhino 8.17 shadow display bug

Hi,
I have just update my Rhino to Rh 8.17 (8.17.25066.7001, 2025-03-07) and I have found an error with shadow.

It behaves completely weird as you pan the model.

I don’t have special settings. This is shaded view with shadows on.

I didn’t have this issue in Rh8.16 (there were other issues mostly related to display in grasshopper that has been resolved in Rh8.17)

Please post both the 3dm file and the output of the Rhino SystemInfo command.

The 3dm contains just a box. Nothing special there.

Maybe I am missing something here, is it normal to have the shadow towards the top and two shadows instead of one? It looks very off.

I’ve gone back and forth a few times now between 8.15, 8.16 & 8.19 and not seeing any differences.

@Japhy, you are right, it’s the same in all versions down to 5.

But why is there a 2nd shadow?

I believe that is due to the scene lighting per the Shaded Display Mode Settings, change to Default for Single Source lighting.
