Rhino 7 very slow on a powerful new PC

Rhino 7 very slow on brand new render machine. Was running much smoother on an older machine with lower specs. New machine specs:

Processor - 13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i9-13900K 3.00 GHz
RAM - 128 GB (128 GB usable)
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090

Tried running on safe-mode, did not help.

Running Rhino in Safew Mode, IS NOT A FIX!
Safe mode is a troubleshooting tool to start Rhino without OpenGL graphics or plug-ins, both of which can cause Rhino to crash.
Your Rhino was NOT crashing so Safe Mode didn’t help anything.

What I do see are 2 3rd-party plug-ins that may be involved in the performance issue.

  1. Please run the Options command > Plug-ins, and change the list filter to “Plug-ins that do not ship with Rhino”.
  2. Disable all of them including V-Ray and Enscape.
  3. Close Rhino abnd restart.

Does the problem go away?

  1. If yes, enable the plug-ins ONE AT A TIME, and restart Rhino.
  2. Test again.
  3. Repeat until you find the offending plug-in.

Any luck?

Hi Josh,

Thanks for responding!
I tried your suggestion and found the latest version of enscape was slowing down rhino which i have since been able to fix by installing an older version.
However, even with no plugins enabled im only getting around 40fps when i run testmaxspeed which seems very low for the specs of my PC.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

There was a Rhino user the other day that was having a similar issue.
He sorted it by going into the Nvidia Control Panel and Make sure VSync was set to On:
