Rhino 7 Tool and visualization Settings

Dear Rhino Support Team,

I am a graduate student actively using Rhino for my thesis research in interior architecture. Until recently, I was working with Rhino 7; however, after the release of Rhino 8, my Rhino 7 installation now requires a license key to open.

I have installed Rhino 8, but since it is a new version, my customized tool and visualization settings remain in Rhino 7. In order to access and transfer these settings, I need temporary access to Rhino 7.

Since my research heavily depends on this software, I would truly appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to your response.

Hi İrem -

That requires purchasing a Rhino license.

If by “visualization settings” you mean custom display modes, those are written to the settings-Scheme__Default.xml file in %appdata%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\settings.
If you haven’t customized your Rhino 8 set-up, you could replace the Rhino 8 version of that file with the Rhino 7 version.
