I was able to open Rhino and rhino files earlier this morning, but then closed one file and since then it won’t open. Tried opening in safe mode but it doesn’t do anything either. Tried updating the graphics card driver but that didn’t help. No idea why it was working then now doesn’t want to.

Is this Windows 10 or 11? Did you recently update (if 11) ?
A clean install of the video drivers might be required. Another thing to try is to repair the C++ redistributables, then repair the Rhino install.
Windows 11. I’m not sure if the computer had an update recently or not. I’ll try the C++ repair.
Repairing the C++ and then repairing Rhino worked.
