Rhino 7 so slow I cannot use it

Help! I have rhino 7 downloaded that I get free from my university and had no issues using it until suddenly it is severely slow. I make sure to put everything in layers and hide the things not in use but it is still extremely laggy. I really need to use the make2d command and have been trying to for days but rhino crashes before I can do it.\

here is system info

How large/complex is your model?

Is Rhino 7 If you start it without openning a file?

With a large/complex model you may be running out of memory.

It’s by far one of the least complex models I’ve made. I did import one file which had a lot of meshes which I’ve reduced by 75%

Hi Orla -

Do you know what change might have caused or attributed to the sudden slowness?
macOS Tahoe is not on the list of supported Operating Systems for Rhino 7, and 26.5 is a fairly recent update to that version.

You could post or upload the 3dm file so that we can check if there is anything specifically wrong with that or see if there are workarounds that can be suggested.

I’m not seeing crash reports from your eMail address in our system. We won’t be updating Rhino 7 but a crash report might give some ideas…

Rhino 7 was not designed to run on Apple M series processors. That may have something to do with the performance you are seeing because it has to be emulated to run on your machine. Rhino 8 natively runs on Apple M series, plus it has better Metal support
