Rhino 7 remains running after exiting

Hello,
I exit Rhino, and a Rhino process is still running using memory.
I have to manually end the task.
If I start Rhino again from icon, then 2 are running, but only 1 remains after exit.
Why is this?
Thank you,
Glenn

Can you disable your V-Ray Plugin via File>Document Properties> Plugins and try again please, thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Why do you guys blame Vray for all problems?
I stopped posting here a few months ago after I asked for decal assistance and same reply was disable Vray. Which another user did and the problem didn’t stop.
Sorry I posted,
I’ll continue manually closing the process, and hopefully the problem will go away or I will.
For reference 2 years ago I stopped using Sketchup after 15 years and moved here because of Vray.
Glenn

Not all, but some plug-ins (including V-Ray but not only) have been known to cause problems. That’s why the first suggestion is always to disable plug-ins - to see if it is base Rhino that is causing the problem. If the problem goes away when the plug-in is disabled, then that was it… If not, then there is something else going on, which might be a Rhino bug, a system limitation or something else.

Rhino should not be leaving a process running when it quits, so it is important to figure out why. This happens every time you run Rhino? Are there any particular commands you are running where you notice that Rhino starts acting strangely?

Thank you for the reply.
I just noticed it after the most recent Rhino upgrade.
No other problems.
Glenn

Like what Helvetosaur said, its a process elimination and that’s it’s best to remove 3rd party variables first – nothing against Vray.

Opening a blank file and closing will leave a process running? I’m not recalling this in any recent reports.

One option is to roll you back and then start a bug hunt from that point. Do you know what your last version was?

On my system it appears to be associated with Rhino 6.

It only occurs after running Rhino 6. It does not occur with Rhino 7 if I have not previously run Rhino 6.

thanks, and sorry I don’t have time right now to chase this down.

Task Manager shows no indication of Rhino 7 when it is running.

This happened a couple times today. Then it stopped.
Now it’s not showing in task manger after exiting Rhino. So it is closing processes correctly (as of the last exit).
I’ll monitor and post again if it repeats.
thank you for your assistance,
Glenn

I have been having the same problem with Rhino7 running after closing, and I cannot find a way to repeat it. It goes back several months and since I did not see anyone else report the problem I assumed it was something specific to my system.

Happened again once yesterday. Nothing out of the ordinary, 3d modeling & rendering with Vray. Every couple hours I typically exit Rhino then start it again. So several closes throughout the day. and only the 1 time it kept running.
Interesting that a couple other users posted same issue that do not use VRAY.
