Hi everyone
Since the update to Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26085.1) Rhino won’t start anymore.
When trying to start Rhino no window pops up. However, there is a task in the task manager.
I already tried to repair the installation and do a fresh install. Both attempts to solve the issue did not work.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
Kind regards
Japhy

Hi Luc,
Try repairing the microsoft redistributables, then do a repair of Rhino
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Right-click Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (2012-2017) and choose Repair.
Rhino open in safemode? (via windows start> Rhino 7 in SafeMode)

scratch that, it appears to that particular insider preview Windows OS build
You were right. the latest insider preview of Windows 11 home kills Rhino 7 not Rhino 8 though. I went back to the previous build and it started right up.
Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.26080.1100 (ge_release) Is the last one that worked…

These are early release builds of Windows and shouldn’t be considered stable.
Same problem with release 26100.1 ge_release
I rolled back to the previous release, tried everything, drivers, reinstall, run with admin, etc.
One suspect i have is the licencing verification process, there’s an event that coincides when i start RHINO.
The McNeel licencing service maybe? not sure.
WIll wait for next release.
