The title really says it all. I have a relatively small file with block references to other larger files. It’s been amazing for the 2+ years I’ve been working on this, but today it crashes any time I try to open it. Tried to reboot, safe mode, etc. but no luck. Using Rhino for Mac “Version 7 (7.5.21100.03002, 2021-04-10)”. Please help, it’s due soon!

Never finishes opening. After 30 seconds or so it closes out Rhino completely.
Hello - please try: in Preferences > general change the Update frequency to ‘Service release candidate’ and click ‘Check now’ to get a 7.6 build - does that work any better?

Hmmm - Are the linked files all still in the expected locations? Please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and copy/paste the results here…
And, does Rhino give you a crash report interface? if so, please send one of these in.

Thanks - that looks like the right info - do you get the Rhino/McNeel crash report UI when you next start Rhino? If you send that, then it goes through some pipeline or other that makes it easier for the developers to get at it.

Can you use Import instead to open the file causing this issue? Make a new blank file and then run the Import command to try.

Thanks for sending all the files.
It turns out that only your parent file is 35MB, and the sum of your linked blocks in over 700MB.
The file size is a sum of the current model and all the linked blocks ~ so the real file size is over 750MB
Because you are using Mac, the WorkSession option is not available, but on Windows it is one option instead of a linked block that might have helped.
Large files use a lot of CPU and GPU resources.
However, we were able to repeat the crash you were experiencing.
It is logged as RH-64193. Because of your files are attached, this is not for public viewing.
However, you will be notified when there is a fixed.
