Rhino 7 crash upon logging in

Hi all,
I need help regarding an installation. After installation, Rhino crashes after logging in.
I am able to go through if I use serial number option but I need to login as the license is shared.
I have tried, uninstalling and fresh installation, does not work. I also tried to enter serial number and then switch to login and it still crashes.

Please help.

If Rhino crashes after installation, it is generally a better idea to repair the installation than to reinstall. Repair will reinstall the .NET stuff from Microsoft that Rhino depends on.

Hi Gijs,

I tried repair, didn’t work.

hi @SCDA_IT sorry for the inconvenience, we do see the crashes coming in, I am asking a developer to look into it.

@SCDA_IT apparently the crash is caused by Astrill VPN software

Either exclude Rhino from the software (as it inserts a DLL into the process, and this DLL is what crashes). Or uninstall it completely.

Hi Gijs,

Thanks! Right on target!

How did you find out?

I didn’t, Nathan did

I looked at the crash reports you had sent in. They all pointed at a crash in a DLL that is known to inject itself into processes. Disabling that or just simply removing it altogether will ensure this DLL doesn’t inject itself. And thus no longer causes the crash.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks. How do I see this crash report?

Hi -

When you send in the crash report, it is available to the staff in McNeel so that it can be looked into to help a user or to fix a bug.

Hi,

I see. Thank you. Any way for us to see the report ourselves?

Hi -

The crash dump file is written to the desktop. When you send in the report, that gets automatically deleted. So you can look at that file prior to sending in the report.
