I have run the same GH file in Rhino 7 & 8 for mac.
Change the display mode to Rendered in Rhino and in Grasshopper disabled the preview on the custom preview component, and left Render enabled.
The outcome is Rhino 7 works and Rhino 8 does not.

I have the same issue. My script generates a custom PDF with 3D preview of the model and with annotations. I can’t really understand what’s going on, but I have noticed following:
- Grasshopper shows the geometry when I select “Custom Preview” component in Grasshopper (the same preview as if I select any GH component with preview on)
- Custom Preview sometimes works fine when I change the material or the colour (on Custom Preview input)
- This bug first appeared in a GH file saved on 30th May where I added Model Object components and also Content Cache
- File saved on 20th May works fine (Rhino version is the same in both cases)

The bug is still open, not yet fixed.

Hi there!
I have the same issue. Moreover, if the Custom Preview is unabled and you enable it while Rhino is in rendered Preview, Rhino (8) stops working.

I’m not seeing that here. Could you post the output from the Rhino SystemInfo command and a simple .gh file that we can try?

I now realise that this is a space for Mac topics - and I am experiencing this issue in Windows.

This error doesn’t always happen, at least not with simple cases. Please refer to the YT item - this issue exists on both Mac and Windows.
Still occuring. Very frustrating. No workaround. Entirely ruins my workflow. The object sometimes appears and sometimes does not.
What sometimes helps:
- Activate and deactivate the detail.
- Delete and replace “Custom Preview” component with fresh one.
- Turn the material off and on.
- Try again the next day.
