Hi ,

We have a customer that is drawing big Yachts and uses allot of big models. Rhino is not working very fast in these models its sluggish and hangs all the time when selecting different views.

I am by no means a engineer we only deliver the PC + software.

The models are around 1.8GB large.

These are the specs of the PC (systeminfo)

Rhino 7 SR28 2023-2-27 (Rhino 7, 7.28.23058.03001, Git hash:master @ 4ffc5d7156fbccf2a5d9fcc80e522b3851bc7f6c)

I’m probably a little dim, but the driver listed in the spec is a game driver:

> **[GeForce Game Ready Driver | 528.49 | Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 | NVIDIA](https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/199654/en-us/)**
>
> Download the English (US) GeForce Game Ready Driver for Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 systems. Released 2023.2.8

For the RTX A2000, would you require this driver instead, I think:

> **[NVIDIA RTX / Quadro Desktop and Notebook Driver Release 525 | R525 U7 (528.95)...](https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/204574/en-us/)**
>
> Download the English (US) NVIDIA RTX / Quadro Desktop and Notebook Driver Release 525 for Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 systems. Released 2023.4.25

Probably best to wait for someone to confirm or rubbish my observation. I don’t know the subtle nature between the drivers.

have you tried the nvidia settings here?

I know you are on a desktop, but the settings are still valid.

> Hybrid graphics laptops are more and more common if you buy a consumer grade machine. (I recommend buying a mobile workstation for professional modeling but these hybrid machines are quite prevalent in the consumer market, especially for students.) They tend to generate a TON of tech support here because of the way they are set up from the factory. Hybrid systems are built with 2 graphics processors. A low power graphics chip (typically Intel HD or UHD) and a high power graphics card. However…

also a 1.8gb file is quite large.. why load the whole model as opposed to use worksessions or other file optimization techniques?

see info here- [Worksession | Rhino 3-D modeling](http://docs.mcneel.com/rhino/5/help/en-us/commands/worksession.htm)

Next to what @theoutside has suggested: Viewports can get slow when there are a lot of objects. In many cases the performance can be optimized significantly by combining stuff that is not ‘active’ geometry into single meshes (or surfaces into polysurfaces) and turning repeating objects into blocks. If your customer wants, I can have a look at the file to see what can be optimized. In that case send the file in question [here](https://www.rhino3d.com/upload). and link back to this thread. Files uploaded stay confidential.

Thank you all for your reactions , i was on a holiday so sorry to get back to you so late.

I will check the driver but I am sure i installed the quadro one but still need to look to be sure.

I will transfer the information to them about the viewports and stuff and will get back to everyone.
